Rules Tool – Writing Questions
We want Dized to be able to quickly answer any question that a user can have about your rules. The best way to do this is to write out the most commonly asked questions your players have about each of your Rules and assign answers to them.
Questions are the preferred way for users to look up the right answer in the rules. Ideally you will write at least one question for each of your Rules, asking yourself what important or easy to forget pieces of information are included in it – i.e. what questions does it give the answer to? Of course, you can add many other entries to answer new questions that are not dealt with in the rulebook – about a text on a specific card, or an uncommon interaction between two contradicting effects, for example.
Your FAQ questions do not have to refer to a rule, but it can. There are two ways to create them.
- If you have a question “How do I win the game”, you could open up the “Objective” rule, and add the question there.
- Open the FAQ tab and add the question there. You can refer the question a rule(s) here as well. Rarely, there might be a case where a question is needed to be left without a parent rule, as some questions might not have a rule they refer to. In that case use this way to add the question and don’t link it to a “Related Rule”.
Some questions can also be answered with a short answer. We recommend that you keep these to a word or two.
The long answer can give some background information or exceptions to that question and while the length is not limited, it’s suggested to keep it in a few sentences. If it can’t be explained in that amount of text, it’s suggested to make modifications to the rule instead.
Sometimes your Question might be answered shortly and promptly in a rule, in such case you don’t need to fill either of the answers, but just link that question to the rule in question.
In the future, when users ask questions from Dized and there’s no answer, they can flag these questions and send them to the publisher. You can easily add these questions to your FAQ.

And if there are questions, such as “What are the differences between the 2nd and 1st edition” for example, there might not be a rule for that. In those cases, don’t attach the FAQ to any rule.
